RxRite Announces Private Placement
with Innovium - 08/15/00
Toronto
– June 12, 2001 - eSalveo Inc. (“eSalveo”)
and RxRite.com Inc. (“RxRite”), two of Canada’s
foremost eHealth innovators, announce the merger of their companies
to form an integrated electronic health communications platform
connecting patients, physicians and pharmacies. By capitalizing
on the strengths of both companies’ unique technologies,
a new force in patient-physician-pharmacy communication has been
created. The combined entity will be known as eSalveo Corp. (eSalveo
is derived from the Latin for “in good health”). RxRite
CEO, and new CEO of eSalveo Corp. Rodney Dobson states “It
was a natural fit for both of us. The combination of these proprietary
technologies just makes sense. The bundling of this suite of services
will lead to the accelerated adoption of electronic communication
by physicians in Canada”.
eSalveo (www.esalveo.com),
Canada’s only web-based patient-physician communication
platform enables patients to obtain prescription renewals, medical
notes and non-urgent medical advice through their physician’s
online office. The service also enables physicians to capture
revenue from uninsured services. RxRite (www.rxrite.com) is Canada’s
leader in offering web and wireless based ePrescribing services
through its proprietary application on both desktop computers
and the BlackBerry Handheld from Research In Motion (RIM). Previously
targeting two complementary areas of the health communications
market, the two entities have now joined forces to create the
first integrated electronic platform that seamlessly and securely
connects patients, physicians, pharmacies and third party payers.
eSalveo will
now be able to provide its growing user base of physicians and
patients across Canada with RxRite’s ePrescribing capability.
Patients requesting prescription renewals will be able to benefit
from RxRite’s ePrescribing service that enables the physician
to instantly and seamlessly route the prescription to the patient’s
pharmacy of choice with total security and confidentiality. In
addition, eSalveo physicians will have access to real-time patient
prescription histories and drug reference information at the click
of a button. Dr. Stephen Cord, eSalveo’s co-founder, is
confident that “the RxRite electronic prescription application
will be a valuable addition to the eSalveo platform. The prescription
renewal process in the doctor’s office will now be shortened
to just seconds.”
The benefits
of this revolutionary platform also extend to patients, pharmacies,
employers and health insurers. The prescribing process can now
be efficiently managed on one platform, thereby minimizing prescription
errors and reducing the time that pharmacies devote to clarifying
prescribing information. This process also benefits both the employer
and the third party payer as the employee is not required to be
away from work to acquire certain medical services.
Mr. Jamie
Macintosh, President and COO of Innovium Capital Corp., stated
“We have been an investor in RxRite since August 2000 and
we have confidence in Rodney Dobson, his team and the strategic
direction they are pursuing. We welcomed the opportunity to enhance
our participation in RxRite by providing the new capital required
to facilitate the eSalveo merger.” Innovium (www.innovium.ca)
trades on the Montreal Exchange under the symbol IN.

Toronto
- August 21, 2000 -
RxRite Inc. announced today that it is ready to launch the first
out-of-the-box solution for the secure wireless creation and transmission
of electronic prescriptions. RxRite's proprietary wireless application
built for use on the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™ from Research
In Motion Limited® (RIM®), (Nasdaq: RIMM; TSE: RIM) enables physicians
to connect with its Internet-based prescription service anywhere,
anytime. This breakthrough technology allows RxRite to deploy
their e-prescription service directly into the hands of physicians,
without requiring computers and Internet connectivity.
Rod Dobson,
President & CEO of RxRite, says, "The affinity between physicians
and pagers was not lost on us. We wanted to offer something that
incorporated cutting-edge secure wireless technology with the
familiarity of a pager that physicians would inherently be comfortable
with. The BlackBerry™ handheld offers a simple yet elegant solution
that represents a quantum leap for physicians - and our Company."
Using RxRite
Wireless, a physician creates an electronic prescription either
at the point-of-care (office, emergency room) or from a remote
setting. The BlackBerry™ handheld with RxRite's wireless application
connects to the RxRite Internet-based gateway (www.RxRite.com).
Through this wireless channel, and with the patient's consent,
the physician can access prescription history, allergy status,
conflicting medications, and formulary (drug coverage) information.
The e-prescription is created and then routed through RxRite's
secure, neutral gateway to the patient's choice of pharmacy. Once
filled at the pharmacy, the physician can receive immediate confirmation
on the prescription status, which facilitates enhanced patient
care.
The extensive
functionality of RxRite's wireless application enables for the
first time an electronic communication channel between physicians
and pharmacies. "We want to stress that this is not simply a wireless
email device but a secure utility with the ability to connect
health professionals to appropriate real-time patient information,"
added Dobson.
Commercial
roll-out of the wireless e-prescription service will begin this
fall, starting with a pilot project.
In 1999,
266 million prescriptions were dispensed in Canada, representing
some $10 billion on prescription medications. RxRite sees huge
potential in the emerging e-prescription marketplace nationally
and internationally.
RxRite's
open application and neutral switching technology offers the ability
for physicians, pharmacies, patients, and third-party payers (health
insurers) to communicate through their secure Internet gateway
for the creation, transmittal, and processing of electronic prescriptions.

Toronto,
Canada - August 15, 2000 - RxRite Inc. ("RxRite") and Innovium Capital Corp.
("Innovium") jointly announced today the closing of a private placement in which
Innovium has acquired an initial interest in RxRite and has the right to increase
that interest to more than 10 percent. The placement provides RxRite with financing
for ongoing technology development and marketing of their proprietary electronic
prescription application service.
"Innovium is an incubator of early stage investments. We believe RxRite is poised to
capitalize on a significant opportunity within the burgeoning e-health sector and
has a management team that is more than capable of maximizing that opportunity,"
says Neil Raymond, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Innovium.
RxRite is a uniquely positioned private company targeting the
electronic prescription market. The Company has developed an Internet-based
prescription service that connects physicians, pharmacists, patients,
and third-party payers via its secure gateway that facilitates
the creation, transmittal, and processing of electronic prescriptions.
The technology offers medical professionals the ability to communicate
directly with the patient's pharmacy of choice through RxRite's
Internet gateway (www.rxrite.com). The pharmacy and third party
payers (health insurance companies) benefit from real time access
to prescription information allowing for a more timely and cost
efficient process.
Using the RxRite application, a physician creates an electronic prescription either
at the point-of-care (office, emergency room) or from a remote setting. With the
patient's consent, the physician can access prescription history, allergy status,
conflicting medications, and formulary (drug coverage) information. The prescription
is then routed through RxRite's secure, neutral gateway to the patient's choice of
pharmacy. Once the prescription has been filled, the physician receives immediate
confirmation, which facilitates enhanced patient care.
In 1999, 266 million prescriptions were dispensed in Canada with a retail value
of $10 billion. RxRite will initially derive the majority of its revenue by charging
pharmacies on a transaction basis. The potential of the e-prescription marketplace
as it emerges nationally and globally will be significant.
Innovium Capital invests in innovative opportunities and trades under the symbol IN on
the Montreal Exchange. The Company consists of a significant interest in ThinWeb
Technologies Corporation (www.thinweb.com); a strong balance sheet with a healthy
working capital position; and, an ongoing revenue stream from sales of previously
divested agri-businesses.
